As a research and technology service provider, Fraunhofer IKTS develops modern high-performance ceramic materials, industry-relevant manufacturing processes and prototype components and systems in complete production lines up to pilot scale. The focus areas include, for example, environmental and process engineering or material and process characterization. Research work at the IKTS site Carbon Cycle Technologies in Freiberg concentrates on pyrolysis and gasification. Numerous pyrolysis plants are operated, which allow industry-related experiments up to pilot scale. Various types of reactors are available, which can be fully balanced and are used in both batch and continuous processes.
